Why is this source appropriate? Roots & Shoots is a suitable donor form as it tries to empower people through social, ecological, and environmental initiatives. As our organization aims to empower those individuals doing such a project, Roots & Shoots ‘ and AMPTD’s ethos align. In addition, we are reaching out to the Dutch brand of Roots & Shoots, meaning that it is a tailored (possible) donor to us at the moment.

Area to receive funds: The materials and prime resources required to develop and advertise the impact assessment platform for social investment projects based in Maastricht.

Internal Sources of Funding: Teachers, parents, student organizations, and the student council at the school.

External Sources of Funding: Local people, parents who are visiting, and companies in the area who might sponsor the event by purchasing or contributing items.

Potential Source of Funding: School-organized bake sale

Funding Type (bold one): Grant,

Explanation:

Since the earnings from the bake sale are non-repayable, this is seen as a donation. No one is given ownership or project shares. By buying baked products, people can donate, and the project is directly funded by all sales. It's a straightforward and ethical method of getting startup capital.

Name/company/organization: UWCM student council fundraising

Contact info: Outlook, form

Status (bold one): Requested, Accepted, Rejected

Specific facilitational/logistical requirements: We require volunteers to bake and sell the baked items, tables for setup, allergy labels, a designated spot, such as the school cafeteria or the atrium and permission from the school.

Deadline: N/A

Why is this source appropriate?

The bake sale will work since it is completely within our budget, and it's simple to plan. In addition to increasing awareness of the impact investment initiative while selling the goods,, it engages teachers, parents, and students in an enjoyable and good way. Since the project's objective is to create something for the neighborhood, involving the school early on creates support and a sense of community. Before we look for bigger funding later, the baking sale also helps demonstrate small-scale ownership and initiative.

Area to receive funds: Development of a Maastricht-specific, SDG-aligned, social impact measurement platform.

Internal Sources of Funding: Students in the project team, departments at Maastricht University, teachers, and maybe entrepreneurial groups connected to the university.

External Sources of Funding: SDG-aligned international nonprofits, social impact organizations, and local government (GEM Maastricht).

Potential Source of Funding: Maastricht University Research Funds s

Funding Type (bold one): Grant

Explanation:

Because it offers funding for research-based projects with no expectation of repayment, making it a grant. Supporting knowledge-driven, socially significant innovation is the goal. It is perfect for a community-based, non-profit data platform because there are no expectations of equity or profit sharing.

Name/company/organization:  Maastricvt University

Contact info:https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/about-um/faculties/health-medicine-and-life-sciences/research/research-office/fund-your-research-0

Why is this source appropriate?

This funding source is suitable as the university wants to support/promote research that advances sustainability, improvement in society, and community well-being, exactly what our platform is meant to do.

Area to receive funds: Social Impact Project startup

Internal Sources of Funding: School donors, etc. (N/A)

External Sources of Funding: International Baccalaureate, Festival of Hope

Potential Source of Funding: International Baccalaureate, Festival of Hope

Funding Type (bold one): Grant, Debt, Equity

Explanation: This would be a grant from the IB Global Youth Action fund, created by the International Baccalaureate in collaboration with the Festival of Hope. Students can receive up to $3,000, based on impact, the stage of their project, collaboration, and school support. This money is not expected to be paid back to the IB.

Name/company/organization: International Baccalaureate in collaboration with the Festival of Hope

Contact info: media@ibo.com

Status (bold one): Requested, Accepted, Rejected

Specific facilitational/logistical requirements: The application would have three main components. First, we would need to create a pitch deck, which is a presentation consisting of around eight slides that outline the problem and its solution. We would need to explain why the x problem is the best way forward and how the funds will be utilized. Furthermore, a video pitch of around 3 minutes is required to explain why their idea should be chosen. Finally, we would also need a form from an educational institution to recommend the project for gaining funding.

Deadline: February 28, 2025 (ended, so February 2026.

Why is this source appropriate? This source is relevant as all the co-founders of AMPTD are well-driven IB students, and having the IB and Festival of Hope facilitate this grant would make sense as our projects not only connect to the 9 UWC values, but to the IB values of sustainability and diversity as well. In addition, this source would provide a grant, which is very suitable for a startup, as everything has to be planned, and if something goes wrong, we would not be expected to repay the money. Lastly, this would be an appropriate source as our project aligns well with the four criteria of this grant application: The impact, the stage of the project, collaboration, and school support. We align very well with this set of standards, as our project is expected to have a significant impact. Additionally, it is in development, so it is more than just an idea. It is also made in collaboration with five people and two supervisors. Our school also provides very nice support, not only with the Youth Mayor’s classes/unit, but also with the teachers who have expertise in our specific field (finance/sustainability), who have shown great help as well.
